New scar treatment helps confidence with tattoos

For many people with facial trauma scars, their physical appearance is a constant reminder of a past that they would probably rather forget. A new form of scar treatment seeks to help these people regain their confidence and move on with their life through a revolutionary medical tattooing process.

Mark Weston, an artist working in a hair restoration clinic, has developed a new technique known as the Artistry Concepts Hybrid Method (ACHM), in which a technician applies a small amount of pigment under the damaged skin around the hair follicle. Using this procedure, Weston has been able to successfully replicate the natural growth pattern of very short hair on the scalp and beard line.

Weston recently used the technique on an Irish man who was disfigured by a fire accident as an infant. Through ACHM, the artist was able to recreate natural hair growth on the man's scarred face and head, providing the man with a sense of normalcy that years of surgeries and skin grafts had not obtained.

"He was thrilled with the result," says Weston, "We're so glad we could help him."

Though the process can hide scars, it does not eliminate them, so those with visible scars might want to continue scar treatments like silicone ointment to reduce the damaged tissue's physical appearance.ADNFCR-3015-ID-19700784-ADNFCR
