More younger women turning to mature cosmetic procedures

A mommy makeover, which is when a woman has a breast augmentation, tummy tuck and liposuction after giving birth to a baby, is meant to give new mothers a boost to their self-esteem after their body has been under immense pressure from their pregnancy, but plastic surgeons are seeing a rise in younger women having them done, some of whom were never pregnant.

Dr Steven H Schuster is a plastic surgeon located in Boca Raton, Florida, and he has seen an increase in young women, both new mothers and not, having the procedures done.

Dr Schuster said that these young women are fitting in the procedures between taking care of their newborn children.

"Many young mothers are allowing themselves some time to work on their bodies so they can feel more comfortable with the way they look even while still raising children," he said.

He noted that breast augmentations are most popular because the breasts change during the pregnancy, and after it they may droop or become too large.

Since these new moms are working on their appearance with these surgical procedures to boost their self-esteem, any scarring that may occur can be taken care of with scar treatment products.

Use of silicone gel sheeting or ointments may help reduce the appearance of the scars, and still leave time to take care of their child without devoting much time to applying the products.ADNFCR-3015-ID-19915947-ADNFCR
